2012 Summer Olympic Games are set to be held in London. From the 27th July to the 12th August, the arrival of this spectacular festival of sport will mark a momentous occasion for London, as the capital becomes the first city to host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously been hosts in 1908 and in 1948. It will undoubtedly be one of the biggest events to be held in London for over a decade.

 

The Olympic Games is one of the biggest international sporting events on the calendar and boasts one of the largest global audiences of any major event. The world’s finest athletes will come together to compete in the featured 26 sports with their 39 disciplines, to see who will set the Olympic stage alight and become the all important Olympic medal winners. The Olympic Village will be based in Stratford in east London, which will incorporate the newly built Olympic Stadium, the Aquatics Centre, the Hockey Centre, the cycling Velodome and a BMX track.
